Hi,
I was wondering if you do any weight loss surgery?
I have a BMI of 33 too low for a gastrc band,  Since having my children this excess is mainly on my abdomen area. I cant even hold my tummy in it feels like I have no muscle strength there.
I stopped smoking3 yrs ago to be able to have a tummy tuck and even though my BMI was 27, I still had a huge amount of fat on my tummy area with no definition of a waist my tum,y had the same size as my hips.  Stopping smoking has made me feel great but I have now gained weight! I have tried no end of diets and do go to the gym 3 times a wk. I am determined to have this done but I now need to lose the weight again. What do you suggest How low do I need to get to be able to have a tummy tuck? Would Liposuction be an option or do you think it would be too much?
I am currently 5' tall and 11 stone 11lbs
thanks very much
Anna

Thank you very much for your enquiry to the forum which I have read with interest.

First of well done on giving up smoking and as you mention in your letter it is quite common following children to gain excess weight in the tummy area and develop slightly loose muscles  in this region.

From your letter I was not quite clear whether you had had a tummy tuck procedure and if you have not, I think a tummy tuck (Abdominplasty) with repair of the muscles would be the ideal procedure for you.

Before the surgery it would be best to loose the excess weight, the few kilograms you have put on.

On balance I think it would be best to have a consultation with  a surgeon to discuss an Abdominoplasty at which they can show you before and after pictures and explain the pros and cons and possible complications in your case.

Overall, as I mentioned well done on giving up smoking and good luck if you do decide to go ahead with surgery.

Kind regards
